Please tell how safe is the surgery for removing karetoconus defect in the eye? my brother is suffering from it in both the eyes and unfortunately his left eye has been ruptured, doctors are saying cornes transplantation is the only option. though there are still some hope for his right eye and doctors are suggesting C-3 R technique. Please suggest how risky are these options and what else can be done? is there complete remedy available? what is the risk percentage?

This discussion is related to suffering from karetoconus, using contacts.

Because there are different techniques and each patient is unique only the surgeon can provide informed consent.

The most common treatment for K conus AFTER glasses is rigid contact lens and then after that corneal transplantation. That's a big operation with a long healing process (12 months or more).  Newer procedures involving lasers, and not making a full thickness transplant have been tried but are not uniformly successfull.
