laser surgery for retinal holes and tears

laser surgery for retinal holes and tears

In Sept. had laser surgery to repair tear in retina, continued to have problems with my eye and flashers so two weeks later had to have more laser surgery to same eye, same tear. In Dec. at doctor appt. was told now have holes in both eyes requiring laser surgery. Scared and worried as my eye hasn't been the same since the first surgery which was extremely painful. Eye feels sore and strained and numbness at middle cheekbone. Eye feels scratchy like eyelash in eye. Last week had the surgery to repair hole in the same eye. Eye still sore and tired feeling and am scheduled to have surgery this Friday for the other eye. Worried it will never be the same again as so many problems with the other eye. Do all holes have to be repaired? Scared about the surgery but also scared to have a detached retina. Anything to make retina stronger so won't tear and have holes? Thanks for any help I can get.

Consider stepping back and getting a second opinion from another retina ophthalmologist. Find one in the USA near you at www.aao.org
