laser treatment for retina

I am a 26 years old and had LASIK, I was -11. And I developed PVD and the vireous is pulling the retina at the 3 o'clock position. I am experiencing flash and floater. The doctor suggest a laser treatment at the 3 o'clock position of periphery of retina which is a weaken area due to the high myopia. Does it worth to do the surgery and any long-term complication after the surgery?

To protect you sight, the surgery seems necessary. I lost 80% vision in left eye, so they have lasered my right eye 3-4 times, to protect it. I suggested  it to my doctor because, as I told him, I will need my right eye.

I am not a doctor,but a community leaser here.

She should ask these questions of her surgeon. Flashes can continue after laser.

I have lines where my eye has been lasered. I do not know how they will look to me later

The surgeon can referher  to someone about the migraine.

Dr. Hagan will review your posting. Dr. Hagan, of course, knows more about all this. Your surgeon is the most familiar with your case, and with her case.

By the way, my friend had laser due to the PVD three years ago, the the flash didn;t went away, it is still notiveable in dark and very rarely in day time with light spot. She suffered migraine but it is on the right part, could the nerve problem in right part cause the flash in left eye? Even the flash getting better a little bit but did not went away totally. Is it possible. By the way, she did dielate retina exam every year.

I would recommend that you see the retinal specialist to get your questions answered and get treatment as indicated by your doctor.  This is important for you to do quickly  as you have a higher risk of retinal detachment due to the amount of nearsightedness [your eye is longer and the retina is stretched and thinned] and have symptoms which are concerning.  If you are in need of a second opinion, go to eyeMD and search for a retinal specialist near you.
