I have lattice degeneration with round holes in both my eyes.I am 40 years old. My doctor has recomended bilateral laser surgery.At the moment i can see clearly with my glasses(-2 ). 1- What kind of laser trement is the best i-e photocoagulation, retinopexy etc? 2-  After treatment wil i get again lattice degeneration in my life. 3- what vitamines are helpful for lattice degenration treatment. 4- Do i need  anycare like can i play footbal  etc? 5- does it give you headach? 6- Can i have  short sight laser treatment for my eyes? 7 Is it depression can cause lattice degenration? My family do not have lattice degenration.8  What are the reasons of developing lattice degeneration in eye? 9- Lattice degeneration occures in 8 to 11 percent of th general population. 10- what is general population mean either a country or whole world population? 11- Finally what are the reasons of lattice degeneration develop in eye and do i need anyspecial care?

1. Your surgeon will choose the best treatment for you. It depends on the size and location of the round holes. Our practice uses cryopexy and laser.

2. Lattice often reoccurs, gets larger or other areas develop. Perhaps 8% of the population has lattice. I personally have lattice degeneration but have not had to have it treated.

4. You need to ask your surgeon that question. Most people return to full acitivities about 4-6 weeks post treatment.

5. Some people have headaches after laser, some patients have headaches when they go to the doctor's office.

6. You would need to consult an ophthalmologist that does LASIK surgery to determine if you are a good candidate. Most refractive surgeons will do LASIK on patients with lattice especially if its been treated.

10. Most of the studies on lattice have been done on occidentals from the Western world.

11. Lattice is more common in myopic eyes and as we get older. You need a yearly eye examination by an Eye MD
