lazy eye condition

My 10 y/o  daughter was diagnosed with a lazy eye condition only this year.She was prescribed special glasses and wears an eye patch 3 hrs. a day.i was told that it could be too late to fix the problem.Is there anything that can be done to fix it and what can possibly happen to her eye at this point? She sometimes complains of seeing a cloud very briefly.Is this common and are there any dos and don'ts in her condition?

hello. If i were you i would have your daughter wear the eye patch as much as possible, although it is not fun. The longer she wears the patch, the more the brain will get used to using that eye and try to make it strong.
Her eye can only get better if it is already lazy. when i was younger, i had to patch my eye and complained to no end about it. i hope she is better than i was. Good luck!

I am 75 and at age six was pronounced with lazy eye. I wore a patch which I hated and it did not do any good. Now the good news: At 42, I developed a cataract in my right eye which was fast growing. My rt eye is the dominant eye. When my vision started down in the rt eye, the left eye, which I never had much use of kicked right in and came up to 20/30. After cataract surgery and restored vision on the rt side, the left eye went right back to where it was before.In the last three years, I have had surgery four times in the rt eye. Guess what? the left eye popped right back to 20/30 and has remained there since my vision in the rt side has been restored to 20/30.
God let that lazy eye rest for forty two years, because He in His infinite mercy knew I would need it some day.
I firmly believe that from my own experience, that your daughters eye will be there for her if and when she needs it. Now that is not to say that even the lazy eye was totally out of commission, because it added balance to, as well peripheral vision which was especially useful for driving.   noslit
