lazy eye help

Is it possible to get a lazy eye after an eye operation? (vitrectomy) can the eye heal itself, is a lazy eye just part of the healing process?

You likely mean an upper eyelid that droops. That is called ptosis. It can occur after retina surgery especially if scleral buckle done.

you need the services of an oculoplastic surgeon. Find one at www.aao.org or ask your retina surgeon for a referral

Dear Dr.Hagan,
I am 29 (2012) and since 2010 I'am experiencing morning lazy eyelid (right side) and morning dry eyes (bilateral). I must admit that a little eyebraw drop is present on the same side. I susspect a neurological problem (even it is the main couse or it is a seccondary cause). Not sure what to investigate for. Please advise!

Kind regards!

PS: I am studying to become an eye surgeon (this year hopefully I will be a resident doctor in Oph).

Good luck in your medical career, I have found ophthalmology a wonderful experience.

I am not familiar with the health care situation in Romania but you should seek out a neurologist or a neuro-ophthalmologist.

For the AM dry eyes use a lubricating gel or lubricating ointment in both eyes at bedtime and do not sleep under a fan or with air blowing over your face.   Lubricating eye ointments mostly contain methylcellulose.
