left eye pain and left ear area

I awake in the a/m hours to a sharp pain over my left eye . I sit up and it goes away after a few minutes what is the problem.Also what type of Dr. do I go to?  Thank you in advance.Johnging

Some possibilities include sinusitis, trigeminal neuralgia, cluster headaches, migraine headaches, hypertension, increased intracranial pressure, temporal arteritis, glaucoma and others.  I would first see an ophthalmologist and then consider a neurologist if necessary.
