light gray area after PPV and gas bubble

light gray area after PPV and gas bubble

Has anyone in this website experienced having a light gray area/spot in their vision after retinal detachment surgery?  None of the 2 doctors I spoke to seem to really know what it is.  All they tell me is that I have to give my eye time to heal more.  I agree with this of course.  But I am worried that it might be something that if caught early would be better for me.

I am 3.5 months post retinal detachment surgery (PPV and gas bubble).  My vision continues to improve for the better except for this light gray area in my vision really close to the center.  I thought it was blood before since I also had a small retinal tear which was lasered a month ago.  I thought it was new blood (as what my doc said ) and thought it might be taking longer for the center of my eye to heal as the peripheral vision.  The doctor didnt see the tear right away as it took a while for the blood to get re-absorbed in my eye.  The light gray area also SEEMS to be getting smaller but I am not sure if it is still getting smaller.  It was definitely bigger than it is now over a month and a half ago though.  It is somehow affecting my focusing and reading.

Has anyone here experienced this on this website?  IF you did, did it eventually go away?  I was thinking of getting a third opinion.  The two doctors I spoke to also didnt have quite the same diagnosis which really made me sad today.

Please share and advice.  Thanks so much.

It could be an small area of traction.  Ask to get an OCT.
