Dear Dr.,

I wanted to know what type of light is harmful to the eyes. The reason I ask him I had several eye examination done (9-10 in the past 5months)  by slit lamp, indirect and direct Ophthalmoscopes from different doctors.

My questions.

1. Are these exams harmful to the eye?
2. Do they cause any kind of retinal burns or moles in the eye?
3. I read uv rays from the sun is harmful to you but do these Opthamolgist eye tools like slit lamp and scopes have uv rays.

I'm really confused which lights are bad to the eye. I'm trying to get a understanding if it is the UV rays or the heat from the light source that is bad.

The lights used to test your eyes may make your uncomfortable but they do not damage the eyes.
