lights trigger migraine

why do  lights cause migraines? furthermore, why do i get double vision, and am unable to focus eyes  during migraine?

I'm not sure why lights trigger migraines.  I think someone could write a thesis on the possible theories.  Sorry, this is a complex and somewhat mysterious issue.  Double vision could be due to a possible temporary cranial nerve palsy which would indicate a possible complicated migraine or could be just that you are so tired and ill that you cannot put forth much effort at convergeance (turning eye inward slightly especially for reading.)
