long-term effects of toxoplasmosis

long-term effects of toxoplasmosis

I am a 73-year-old female with congenital toxoplasmosis.  Unfortunately, doctors could/did not diagnosis the problem for many years.

Throughout life, I have had medical problems that I now wonder if they could be connected.  For instance, I have been diagnosed with parkinsons.  If this is correct, I have had it for 25+ years.  I had a reactivation, obviously, at13 that was diagnosed as choroidretinitis.  I am now feeling terrible with a lack of energy and more than a few muscle and bone aches and pains.  I am hesitant to attempt to discuss this with my gp because most gp's have such limited knowledge of the disease.

Is there information available on problems the elderly might have related to congenital toxoplasmosis?  Is there an organization for those who have this disease?  Has there been any research relating to life-long effects?

Many thanks, Becky D

You should ask you neurologist.  I think toxo  can also go to your brain.
