macular hole

I had surgery for a macular hole in may of this year. My vision is not good in that eye and doc says my central eye vision was probably damaged from the hole. Hole was closed by the gas bubble. Is there any hope for better vision.

I do have a retinal specialist who is known as the very best here in cape coral fl. He done surgery on my other eye to stop me from having another macular hole.  That eye is fine but the vison in the other one is like looking at a splash of water on a mirror.ICan anything ever be done to correct central vison?
