My step father has just found out he has a mass behind his eye. He as 69 years old with loads of health complaints. They are rushing him in for a biopsy 2 moz and they want him 2 have a scan on his thyroid. Has anyone got an idea wot this mass could be. Thanks
In general, the most likely things that come to mind are a benign tumor or malignant tumor. If he was a heavy smoker or has lots of other cancer risk factors then that would probably make the risk of malignancy higher. Some tumors can be removed surgically and others respond well to chemotherapy and radiation is used for some. Sometimes this retro orbital tumor can be a sign of caned in another part of the body so a systemic workup is likely underway already.
