  Computers now can read aloud...is there device that can really
  READ aloud product labels, preparation instructions on food
  products etc.

To my knowledge, there is no such device on the market.  I will ask some of my collegues to confirm this.  I would recommend an evaluation with a low visin specialist who can fill you in with all the different devices available on the market.
