multifocal lens exchange

I had Rezoom lens implanted 6 mos ago after cataract surgery.  After minor positive results, my vision has degenerated significantly.  My surgeon wants to 'exchange' the Rezoom lens for a ReStor lens.  Has this procedure been done with positive results?  What questions should I be asking?

I would not recommend the Restor lens for anyone.  In my opinion they are horrible. Search the archives. I had IOL exchange in Nov. and anticipate the other one in a few months.

This really depends on your problems.  If you are having symptoms of glare and halos, an exchange is a consideration.  However, with another multifocal you have the same problems.

Are you on target? Is there residual astigmatism?  Do you have dry eye?   Is there capsular haze?, etc.

Your first question should be to another doctor. Even if your current doc is the best in the world, you should get a second (and third) opinion in a case like this.

Search the forum for explant and you'll find more about the risks of that procedure, along with discussions of when it is worth doing. If you do it, have it done by an expert in explants.

If you check the archives for this subject you’ll see a ton of stuff about bad results with Restor and ReZoom. I’m one of them and I’m going for a Toric exchange on February 2. Check out my posts as our circumstances are almost similar.
