my 5 1/2 yrs old son sees sparkling colourful spots

My 5 1/2 yrs old son says he sees for some time now, not more than 1 1/2 month now, sparkling spots that have colours or even plain white spots in particular surfaces.We had an appt with the pediatrician opthalmologist who looked in his eyes and did some tests , e.g he put glasses on face and asked him to copy the shapes my son saw on a board away and he did extremely well even in the smallest ones. He said his vision is excellent and is nothing wrong with it. But yesterday my son said he sees spots all over again, and when I asked him if this disturbes him, he said no and he played and watched TV and continued doing whatever he did , and didn't say anything again, but if I asked him if he continues seeing spots he said yes all the time!
I am so worried if it is something wrong with his eyes, and I'll make another dr's appt the soonest, but please if it is sthng you know tell me. I wonder is it possible that this phenomenon is due to his growth spurt the last 2-3 months (he gained 2 cm per month)??

Several possibilities: childhood eye migraines, vivid imagination, and atypical seizure problems.  See the ped ophthalmologist again. If it gets worse consider a neuroophthalmologist. These problems are hard to evaluate in kids.
