my left eye

My left eyeball has increased in size and seems weaker..almost like it can't properly focus..It sometimes aches..I am aware of it constantly and sometimes the eyelid droops a bit..My optometrist said 18 months ago that my eye has become weaker..and she said..I quote.."I don't know why". This is starting to worry me especially since my eyeball has increased in size. I am 40 years old and was diagnosed with early menopause at 34 (not sure if that makes any difference :)...)
Thankyou.
Kerrie.

That is a potential serious problem and the optom response inappropriate. I would strongly suggest you see an oculoplastic surgeon or at least an ophthalmologist.  This is very important  1. take in 5-8 goof facial photos taken over the last 15 years so the eye MD can see if there is a change. 2. don't let the technicians put in any drops in your eyes till the Eye MD looks at your eye and eyelids.  Again this could be very serious and you do need to take action.

Thanku very much Dr Haygan...I was a bit surprised when they said..yes..there is a problem w/ your eye but not sure what..being a typical Aussie..I don't like to make a fuss..silly I know :/ the Optometrist looked at the 'health' of the eye but could see no abnormalities. I am not sure if I need a referral to an Eye Specialist (In Australia it is usual) but I have an appt with my (very good) Doctor 20/07/2012 and will speak to him about it and advise on yr advice. Again..Thanku and I will post how I get on
Regards,
Kerrie.

You might print your question and my answer and take in to your MD (I was a family physician/general practitioner before going into ophthalmology).  I think a referral to an ophthalmologist should be forthcoming quickly.  You really need to see an MD and don't forget to take in old facial photos. Best of luck
