mydriais after restor implant

mydriais after restor implant

I had a restor implant (15.5 D) Sept 2009. Distance vision improved significantly but have great difficulty with both intermediate and near vision. I cannot read at all without 3.75 over the counter reading glasses.  Before the surgery, I read with a very mild RX for reading and didn't always even use the reading glasses-- not really needed.
I have gone to several specialists, with different explanations.
One is that my pupils are "too large" and that they now don't contract for reading- near vision. I had never been told that vbefore or had any special problems with that. The MD had me on a trial period of pilocarpine (4x daily, 1% solution) which I took for only 2 days, had severe reaction (tearing, lid swollen red eye, pain) and continue to have pain 6 weeks later, which I am told is still inflammation from the pilocarpine. He recommends antiinflammatory (which I have been taking but pain continues0)- spasm, sudden sharp pain) and to resume  taking pilocarpine just 2x, not 4x daily, when the inflammation subsides, which it hasn't after 6 weeks. The pilcoarpine did help reading and intermediate, very quickly, and I was able to read. However, I'm afraid to resume it because of the severe reaction and length of time with inflammation and pain..
Another Md said the restor lens is too weak a prescription.
Another Md (the surgeon)said to have laser YAG treatment, but all the other MD'd don't think this is cause of problem and would only benefit me marginally, and not really resolve reading problem. Also, if I ever did want to have the lens replaced, the laser treatment would complicate that replacement tremendously.
I have postponed the 2nd eye surgery, which had been scheduled, as it also have a signifcaant catatact as I am frightened that the same thing will happen. I at least can read with that eye, and feel very vulnerable if I lost that in had difficulty reading in both eyes.. I am a voracious reader and a reading teacher!

It has been suggested I have Resor lens replaced, but since that is supposed to be the best lens for near vision, I don't understand what I would gain and may just create new  problems,
I am confused about what happened? Did something go amiss in the surgical procedure, with the Restor lens, ior is it my "wiring."
