myopic macular degeneration

myopic macular degeneration

This is a question for an opthomologist. I am 43 years old and have had high myopia most of my life.
I was at a -14d in one eye and -10d in the other before undergoing lasik surgery 7 years ago. They were able to get me to 20/30 vision without glasses or contacts due to my abnormally thick corneas.
One year ago I was diagnosed with myopic macular degeneration. My docs have been treating me every so many months with Avastin injections to the eyes. I have had two in one eye and five in the other so far. I continue to have reoccurance of bleeding in my right eye from a large chroidial vascularization. I have undergone one "cold laser" (PDT) treatment in that eye, but it still continues to bleed.
I have lived in Phoenix Az for 42 of my 43 years. My question is this; Is there a better city I could be living in than here? I know that UV rays cause retinal damage. Is making sure I always have on UV blocking sunglasses enough? Phoenix has 89% sunshine a year. Denver has 65% sunshine a year. Portland Oregon has 49% sunshine a year. Denver however is "higher" so it has less atmosphere between the sun and the earth than Phoenix so is it just as bad. Does any of this matter?
Please help me with this.
I am still raising my 8 year old daughter and my 10 year old son. I am very scared about losing my vision while they still need me so.
My center vision is completely blocked in my right eye at this time and I am scheduled for another PDT treatment in two days.
Thankyou for any advice you may have.

There is no reason to even consider moving to another city to reduce UV exposure in hopes of helping myopic degeneration. The abnormal chorio-retinal neovacularization that characterizes "wet" macular degeneration is no driven by UV. Besides most of the UV is absorbed by the cornea and especially the lens of your eye.

Good luck.
