narrow angles

I am a 54 yr old female and have no vision problems but was recently told that I have thin angles.  The doctor stated that although this is not a problem at present, it may present a future problem in the form of sudden vision loss.  The doctor went on to say that there is a preventive procedure to avoid future problems.  He gave me a poor explanation.  Reading through your threads, I expected to be referred to a doctor who would further investigate the 'thin angles' and recommend a laser iridotomy if necessary.  However, I have found out that the tests ordered are an OTC, some kind of 'photos' and a visual field test.  The tests include drops to induce pupil dilation.  Should I seek the advice of another doctor?  I am concerned about the pupil dilation.  Thanks for your help.

Narrow angles alone does not indicate the need for a visual field test.  An OCT test of the angles can measure the angle and following the narrowing.  At some point a laser PI or cataract removal is necessary.
