Hi Dr. Brown.
i was told that the small light gray area close to the center of my vision (makes reading a little hard) could be nerve damage or damaged retina according to my retinal specialist and optalmogist. although my retinal specialist took an OCT and Flourescine Angiogram (FA) and said that both of these test results were good. he said the OCT looked normal and my retina was flat after a retinal detachment and retinal tear which caused a vitreous hemmorhage 2 months after the vitrectomy. the vitreous hemorhage has resolved already almost 2 months post vitrectomy but there is still this small light gray area. the retinal tear was close to where the light gray area is right now. i dont understand why the light gray area is still there 5 months post vitrectomy. one doc said to give it up to a year to 2 years. could it really take this long to go away?
i am in the process of making an appointment with another retinal specialist to get another opinion and hopefully more tests done. i am really getting worried about this light gray area.
please give me your advice Dr. Brown or refer me to a good specialist here in NJ to help me find out what this is really and what i could get to have it cured. the light gray area was bigger before and it got smaller when the blood kept going away. i asked the doc is it could still be blood and he said there is no more blood in my eye.
please help and advice. i would really appreciate it. thanks sinveely.
will this go away? what could this be?
The retina is not a nerve, therefore you cannot have nerve damage in the retina, per se. You need a better understanding of your problem including a more medically accurate description of what is wrong.
