nystagmus

My first male child who is 19 years now is suffering from congenital nystagmus. There is sideways head movement while reading or concentrating. He is wearing spectacles since he was 3 years old. Last year he tried soft contact lenses but was not comfortable. Though he is doing well in academics, seeing from a distance is still his problem. Can a lasik surgery improve his vision?
His power is:
Right eye: Sph.  -2.75      cyl.  -4.75    Axis   15
Left eye :  Sph.  -2.50      cyl.  -4.25    Axis   170

Yes, it may.  However, it will probably be only slightly better than his best corrected vision.
