occaisonal vertical diplopia?

for the past 2 years or so, I get double vision sometimes.   I only ever notice it if i am looking at someones face, most commonly people look like they have two vertical sets of eyes, and two vertical mouths. This more usually happens if someone is a few feet or more away from me. It also seems to go away if i tilt my head, i haven't tried covering one eye yet. now, one reason i didnt quite take this seriously, is that I first noticed this vertical diplomia when i had ingested magic mushrooms (for educational reasons, ive done this twice, i generally dont even take aspirin without a good reason). but it''s been two years since then, and i still get it. I wasnt too concerned until i looked it up just now on the internet, and now im a little worried. BUt then again, i also spend a LOT of time staring at computer screens, so it could just be eye fatigue, no?

Since this is new its very important to have it evaluated very soon by an Eye MD ophthalmologist, ideally by a strabismus (eye muscle) specialist. Find one near you at www.aao.org

Your description is compatible with a fourth (trochlear) extraocular muscle paresis. A work up needs to be done to find the cause.
