I was first diagnosed with Ocular Histoplasmosis 30 years ago - I have had 5 re-occurances since then (both eyes).  I now find that I have tiny brown spots on the centre of my lense in the right eye.  The 1st Dr. said I have a cataract, the 2nd said it wasn't, and took photo's to be compared in 3 months time.
She thought they may have come from the OH.  Any suggestions - is this common in other OH patients?

OH does NOT cause cataracts. If you have cataracts its a separate problem.

I have Histoplasmosis,it started in '93',was in the Rt.Eye,had the laser treatement,it worked and I thought everything was fine. The doctor told me no more about the disease. Then in Jan.'08',they found it again in the Lt. Eye,but was much worse.I was working as a scrub tech.and notice my sight was changing somewhat, thought I was tired. Since that time I have had the Avastin injection, the PDF cold laser, and last I had the Vitrectomy surgery and nothing has help. I went to the doctor in Jan.'09' and the eye is bleeding again, they want to do another PDF cold laser, but due to not having insurance now,I have decided not to have it. I like to pay my way, and I know it is expensive to have the treatment, and it will not help the vision that is already lost. I think of it as having terrible teeth, do you sink in more money into your mouth or just have them pulled and buy dentures? I have noticed some pain in the eye this past week, and the vision is much blurrer than usual, and the pain around the eye is tender, and the the migrane headache, which I never get is awful, so I don't know what is going on with it now. Even if it was serious,I cannot afford another bill,so I just don't care about it anymore and hope it bleeds out and that will be that.IF you have insurance and feel y ou need to do treatments that they suggest, than that is what someone should do, but with no insurance I do not have that option. I wish all the best to those that pursue this disease, and the treatments and hope it works for those who don't give up.
