pain behind right eye

I have pain behind my right eye, sometimes it is worse than other, it also makes me squint quite alot.
When I cough it is quite painful,
I wear glasses for close up, reading etc. I don't want to go to my doctor unless it is necessary.

Yes, its necessary. Get in to see an eye MD ophthalmologist. In the USA find one at www.aao.org
