I have posted before concerning flickering vision. I saw a well respected neuro-op and he saw no problems other than pavingstone degeneration, totally unrelated to the shimmering vision.
My question is, what is pavingstone degeneration and is it worse than lattice degeneration and does everyone have some degeneration as we age? Thanks a lot!

Paving stone degeneration is a peripheral retinal degeneration of no real significance and is not associated with an elevated risk of retinal detachment (lattice degeneration is associated with a higher risk of a retinal detachment).
It is important to keep followup with your ophthalmologist to detect any retinal problems.
