pigmentation on sclera

hi, since i can remember i have always had this brown pigmentation above my iris,it has not grown or changed in size, but i was curious,as to what it is, and what could cause it?

It likely is a freckle (called a nevus on the eye) of the conjuctiva. They are common and in blacks are normal and almost always present. If you've never had an eye MD exam consider one. If it changes in size shape for sure have it checked. But 99.9% of the time no worry
