post retinal detachment/cataract surgery.

by dejayou22, Mar 02, 2009 08:18AM
On Jan. 26 I had retinal detachment surgery involving the scleral buckle and also the gas bubble. During that surgery I developed cataracts, and had to go back in Feb. 4 to get them removed. I had to get the lens taken out of my eye and cannot get that fixed until the gas bubble dissolves. Now, last night I had a little sharp pain in my eye, and then the gas bubble was again visible in the mirror. Now, I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror and it appears my pupil is a little off center. I don't know if I didn't notice it before, because I was only looking closely to see if I could see the gas bubble. Is this normal? I can't make it to the doctor because there's a snowstorm in my area right now.

Just looking for a little piece of mind since I can't go to my doctor..

I also searched the forums for something like this and I couldn't seem to find it, so if this has been asked already, I apologize.

This is the bubble getting into the anterior chamber and distorting the pupil. It is normal after the lens is removed.
