Is there a % complication rate for PCCC?
thanks.....
Liz
OH.
I think the place I go does a PCCC whenever cortex adheres to the back of the capsule, even if capsule is intact. Seems unusual?

A PCCC is only done if there is a defect in the posterior capsule due to the cataract (rare with PSC, common with PPC) or if the capsule tears during surgery.

Is PCCC riskier than leaving the back of the capsule in place and YAG-ing it later?
I know YAG has risks too.
PSC is better and usually does not need a PCCC. Posterior polar most always does.

I checked. It's a "dense PSC/nuclear cataract".
Not a polar.
Oh dear.
I'll find out what kind. I thought PSC, but it may have changed.
How do the risks of complications with PCCC compare to those of leaving the back of the capsule in place and YAG-ing it later?
thanks,
Liz
yes it is a widely used procedure. Often used with posterior polar cataract. See if that is what you have. If so its the safest way to remove
