proceed with multiocal or not

proceed with multiocal or not

I had a restor multifocal implanted in my poorer eye 8 days ago and have super vision from 2 foot in but real blurry otherwise, much worse than before implant. I'm scheduadl for my good eye in a week. I don't know if I should cut my losses, go with restor in other eye or have multifocal removed and just go with distance vision iols. I can currently see a golf ball on a green 200 yards away, so I've got pretty good vision currently. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why not postpone the surgery on your second eye until you are satisfied with the results of the first surgery?

I have a Restor and it has taken me 5 weeks for the vision to stabilize.  It takes this long for complete healing from surgery.  And, it takes time for the brain to adjust to the two (near and far) images that the Restor makes (neuroadaptation).

I suggest you wait for at least 3 more weeks before committing the other eye.

The Restor is supposed to give good near and far vision but lacks clarity in the intermediate (2 ft to ~6 ft).  In my other eye I have a Crystalens HD.  The combination gives me excellent intermediate to far (computer on out), but I need readers for reading a newspaper.  Since you are getting good near vision (<2 ft), you are already better than me.

If your Restor stabilizes and your brain adapts, you should see the golf ball in the distance just fine and you will keep your near vision.  This is exactly how the Restor is intended to work.  Then you can decide to complete the Restor set or go for a CL HD to get better intermediate vision.

thanks for the time frame advice. I thought since the near vision was crystal clear that the far vision was just the wrong power perhaps. I'll give it several more weeks before I make any decisions.
