prophylactic laser barrage for asymptomatic lattice hole

prophylactic laser barrage for asymptomatic lattice hole

I am a 37yrs old myopic with -2.25 both eyes. I was diagnosed with a pigmented lattice at 9'O clock position in my right eye about 6-7 years back.  And recently I have been diagnosed with an asymptomatic lattice hole in my left eye.  I have had no problems like blind spots, flashes or floaters whatsoever so far because of either of these two (pigmented lattice in right eye, and lattice hole in left eye).

My Retina specialist has advised me following for lattice hole  -
1) Treatment with prophylactic laser barrage - As per him this will take care of hole and prevent against a possible retinal detachment in future OR
2) To keep going for retina eval on a 6-monthly basis to see and reasses the need

What I want to know is -
1) What is the probability of an asymptomatic hole leading to retinal detachment in near or distant future?
2) As per my doctor, it is not necessary to go for laser barrage at this stage but is recommended by him. Is it true that going for an early prophylactic laser barrage treatment will ensure the no RD will then occur?
3) What are the complications of laser barrage t/t? Can there be side effects like flashes and floaters? What are the chances of retinal detachmemt happening even after going for prophylactic laser barrage?

Thanks.
THanks

1. I can't give you odds.
2. No that is not true. Even with RX can get RD
3. Compllications will vary depending on other factors in the eye. you need to get that information from the surgeon
