pupil shape

do kids, and even adults, generally have perfectly round pupils?  i noticed our 2 year old's pupil is not perfectly round (at least to me, it is very slight) while others who have looked at his eye think i am seeing things.  he has been seen previously by an eye dr. for a basic checkup, as does his ped. do at well baby visits.  he seems to see fine and is very alert.  he has very light blue eyes, so could this be maybe why i might be seeing things too?  and no it is not a coloboma shape or anything drastic.  it just looks like the bottom part of the one pupil is not a perfect circle.  any info.would be great.

Usually children born blind, and there are precious few these days, have rapid eye movements called nystagmus.  Take your child in to your pediatrician and discuss, if there is any question he/she will refer to the child to a pediatric ophthalmologist.

No it's likely an "iris coloboma"   paste that in google images and see what they look like

I was watching my children's violin teacher's 3 month old while she taught my kids and the baby has one pupil the shape of a heart.  Very distinct notch in just one pupil.  Is this normal?

generally there is nothing proven to prevent myopia, astigmatism or farsightedness. One cannot tell how much RX will change any more than one can tell adult height of a young child. Wear your glasses or get contacts or have refractive surgery and see an Eye MD yearly.

No the pupils are often not perfectly round, not in the center of the iris and not the same size.

Discuss with your pediatrician or an Eye MD
