recent eye problems need investigation?

My most recent problems started about a month ago when i had a tiring cold. My eyesight seemed to take a drastic turn overnight. (previously- I had surgery when i was 8 for a lazy eye and had reading glasses)  Over the past few years i had a few episodes where i felt i could not focus, but my eye doctor claimed it was my approaching age and possibly allergies.  After my eyes took a turn last month, needed glasses at all times. The first half hour+ after waking up, i can not focus on anything, it seems as though i am looking thru running water even with glasses on.  In the past few years my right eyelid began twitching, with the frequency progressing.  This last month I noticed at times it was a stinging numb feeling, where my eyelid drooped for anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes with this heavy numb feeling.  3 weeks ago i found my self dealing with two life altering events that produced a great deal of stress.  At that time, not only my right eye lid drooped, but the whole right side of my face seemed to droop very slightly.  At this time i began to feel a great deal for pressure in my right eye socket.  I  noticed a difference in loss of range of motion/ muscle control in my right eye, and it became markedly more difficult for me to see in dim/ dark lighting.  The drooping resolved itself for the most part in a few days, but i still feel a bit of pressure and muscle constraint in the right eye.  my eyelid continues to have moments of numb drooping, and if i clench my eyes shut, say when i yawn, the muscles around my right eye "spasm" like a charlie-horse and it takes a few minutes to  release.  Instead of double-vision, I find my eyes switching between two slightly askew images, this is mostly corrected with wearing my glasses.  I have family history of auto-immune, brain tumors and brain cancer.  I do not want to be bothersome to a physician with symptoms that can be explained by stress, but i hate to miss any warning signs.  Would appreciate any input.

Go see an ophthalmologist to give you a good exam and see if they think you may have myasthenia gravis or thyroid eye problems.  Otherwise, I would try putting in over-the-counter eye ointment at bedtime as the blurry vision in the morning may be from your eyes drying out overnight.
