recurring conjunctivitis... ???

recurring conjunctivitis... ???

I have been having problems with conjunctivitis for about two months. Initially I waited for it to go away, but after improving on its own, it flared up again. I went to an opthamoligist and he put me on a steroid eye drop called prednisolone acetate ophthalmic suspension 1% for 9 days @ three drops for 3 days then two drops for 3 days then one drop for 3 days. My eye cleared up and stayed clear for a few days, then the same thing again. He had me use the drops again but more drops for a longer period. 4drops for 5 days, 3 drops for 5 days, 2 drops for 5 days and finally one drop for 5 days. I stopped using them last Thursday, and my eye is beginning to get red and I can feel that it is doing the same thing.
I have redness only in one eye and only on one side. I do not have vision problems, nor do I have any drainage, crusting or pain. My eye feels dry and looks very red. Any ideas? I am scheduled to return on the 29th, but I'll need to try to get in sooner since it is coming back. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Prednisilone drops are used for inflammation.  You probably have scleritis or episcleritis and it can be difficult to treat.
