red eyes in the morning

hi, i had an infection in both my eye and my doctor prescribed Vigamox to put in my eyes every 4 hours, so i did. i came back to the doctor's office and they said that i had no infection, but now every morning i wake up my eyes are bloodshot red and sometimes there is mucus in the sides of my eyes. the redness goes away thou out the day and sometimes returns. i think it may be getting worse each morning, i was wondering what happened, and what should i do??
