redness for a month

by Allisonb88, Oct 23, 2007 12:21AM
I have red eyes on and off for about a month now. At first I thought maybe I had pink eye, but I don't have any pain or discharge. I have been noticing that I feel as thougth I need my glasses more often, which really concerns me.I have been using clear eyes or visine to get the embaressing redness out, and that works well for about two hours, and then the redness comes back. I tend to get red, itchy eyes during allergy season, could this be allergy related? or do you think this is something more than that?

The list of things that can cause an eye to be red is extensive. Since this has persisted for a month, it is important to see an eye MD physician (ophthalmologist) to establish a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan.

To: Scleritis clear since Dec 22 2008
Started as episcleritis, scleritis right red eye but sometimes it is in the left eye.I have been using prednnisone since Jan 14 2009.Cleared,use 6 a day one week,5 a day second week,4 a day third ,3 a day forth week and 2 a day fifth week but eye worsened  the red eye came back worse. So back to Dr.back to 5 prednisone a day and eye started to clear again.Dr tried the steroid injetion but it had to be removed because it cause to much pressure in the eye. That was painfull the eye was raw and the drops hurt like hell.No suchers to close area the steroid was removed. Now backing off of the prednisone redness is gone from the scleritis but red from the surgery. Now I am on the mend and no autoimune problem and allergies are not the cause.I was told there are no explanations for getting episcleritis or scleritis. Now waiting go back to dr in 2 weeks and prednisone will be down to 2 a dat for another week.Tell then what happens.nin77ca
