retinal detachment surgery questions

Doctors-

I have a few questions:
1- Usu after retinal detachment surgery, are people able to live normal lives and not have any more retinal detachment problems until old age?  does this happen...i mean after retinal detachment surgery....their eyes become ok until they die or old age?
2- are there preventitive measures one should follow--online or in a book that one can follow to prevent retinal detachment on the other eye or the same eye...like health, movements, stress levels, etc?
3- do people who have had retinal detahcment on one eye, do they usually or always have them on the other eye as well?  Im nervous about my other eye now..
4- how often should one get eye exams with their optalmologist or retinal specialist after retinal detachment surgery,,,,,esp after 3 months after the surgery? (to check the health of the eyes on a regular basis...
5- is three months considered enought time of rest after retinal detachemtn surgery?  what is the usual recomendation of doctors regarding lenth of time of proper rest?
6- how ofter does re-detachment occur with patients...percentage wise?  Does this occur a lot with patients who have had retinal detachments?
7- for the gas bubble...is that put inside the eye next to the retina or outside the eyeball?
8- im nervous about my other eye...but i try to stay positive about it....how can i protec the other eye as well?
9- does diabetes of sugar levels really have anything to do with retinal detachment problems?  Should I keep my glucose levels within normal range...i check it ofter and I try to keep it between 80-120....

That's it for now.  Thank you very much.

Please provide good websites to read esp for preventitive measures, recomended check ups with the doctor/specialist. books, membership/organizations that i can join to be a part of ...with people who have had them...so we can all help each other out...

Thank you so very much again.  Looking forward for a good and helpful answers......

You need to discuss the particulars about your eyes with your surgeon.

Diabetes can cause tractional retinal detachments from scar tissue.  No preventative measure to prevent retinal detachments except for stopping activities which have direct trauma to the eyes or head, such as boxing, etc.
