retinal edema - how to reduce swelling

Dear Doctors:
About 2 1/2 months post cataract surgery (one eye with crystalens), my retina doctor whom I had last seen the year before, re-examined me.  He prescribed prescribed PredForte drops every hour for 3 weeks to reduce swelling in back of the retina. I have only been able to afford the generic and it is hard to remember every hour.  If swelling does not go down, I will need a "shot".  Is this the treatment you would use to reduce swelling or are there other methods?
Thank you for your answer.
(I don't know if I had the swelling prior to surgery, or if I had it a year ago, but I will try to find out)

In my experience generic pred forte is one drug that the real thing is the best.

I currently use Durezol 4 x day and Xibrom twice a day.  Both are expensive but may improve you swelling and you may not need a shot in the eye.
