retinal tear

first i got some black rings floating before my eyes coming from the corner of my left eye.then i took rest by closing my eyes for about 2 hours . later a black spot floated before my eye and after taking rest in the night no floating was observed in the morning. with anxiety i consulted a contact lens specialist who after examination referred to a retinal specialist. the specialist diagonised it as a retinal tear n suggested for a laser treat ment which i hav undergone . My sight reading is +2 n i have no problems of health (like BP,diabeties etc).Please tell me the causes for retinal tear , duration for recovery , precautions to be taken in the future and food habits to be cultivated?

Those are all good questions but most need to be answered by the retina ophthalmologist that treated you. The answers vary from case to case so only by looking in your eye can your questions be answered.
