retinitus pigmentosa

retinitus pigmentosa

Hi all
My wife has RP (ushers type 2) and as such we are well aware of how things stand with fetal cell research and the hope it offers. However recently we were told of some treatments that involve corneal transplantation, in my mind this is a nonsense given the damaged area of the eye relative to RP. So if some one can shine a light upon this (sounds like a way to obtain money for false hope) i would be grateful, as even i believe hope springs eternal.
Many thanks all

That information is incorrect. There was recently published a study that indicated that LUTEIN may show down the retinal deterioration of RP.

You can use Google to find the paper and read it. Discuss with your physician Eye MD. Consider taking 20 mgm of LUTEIN per day.

Thank you Dr Hagan for the prompt reply and information. As for the information that i was asking about, i thought it was wrong as it didn't make any sense, one can't help but hope though, thank you again.

We can hope and pray from 'breakthroughs" in retinal degenrative diseases. Much promising research is in progress.
