saw stars and interferred with sight

I thought I posted this before, so I will post again. Yesterday after I was reading I went into the other room that was bright and then within a few minutes saw an 8 sided star that got bigger and bigger then traveled to side vision as wiggles. It really scred me and wondered if it was a stroke.   ThenI put on my shades and it seemed to go away.  About 1/2 later i got a really bad sinus headache.  Any input would be helpful as I have some anxiety about this.

You have most likely had a migraine variant called "ophthalmic migraine" or "eye migraines". There are some serious things related to heart, brain and blood vessel problems that could also cause these symptoms. You need to see a physician that specializes in the medical and surgical care of the eyes for a baseline examination. You may need additional tests and a good general physical examination by your personal physician.
