scleral indentor vs Q-tip

scleral indentor vs Q-tip

Which is the preferred instrument for COMFORT to the patient when there's a need to examine the eye with the use of EITHER a SCLERAL INDENTOR or a Q-TIP?

AND which position is most USEFUL in seeing more clearly in the eye, is it having the patient SIT UP or LAY BACK?

The instrument and position are the doctor's preference.  They are whatever he customarily uses to get the best examination.  Generally if you need scleral depression, you have something very wrong, or potentially very wrong, with your eye and you should let your retina doc get on with his job.
