"scratch" during catract surgery

I am 4 days post cataract surgery in the right eye - I was told that I had a scratch from the surgery that is healing without issue.  I had what I considered a lot of pain and grittiness in the eye the first 2 days which I assume was from the scratch, but now the eye has settled down.  My vision is good (not 20/20, but clear) and I have some visual distrubances, but nothing out of the ordinary from what I read here.  I am a female, 57, and was highly myopic prior.(-10).   My left eye  (-8.5) surgery will be in 11 - 17 days.  Right now I've not having any major problem with the inbalance of strengths between the two eyes .  I had a monofocal AMO Z9002 IOL  Diopter 5.0 implanted.  What are the causes of scratches during surgery and are they significant?

Thank you.

Many things can cause a scratch during surgery. from the drops, lid speculum, prepping and draping, etc.  No very significant.
