I had to go to the bathroom, when I got up I found that my vision was all red, like walking with red cellophane over my eyes,  this has happened 4 times and always when I get up through the night, what could cause this,  I take medication for high blood pressure

If you are saying this is only a temporary thing - perhaps for 30 seconds or so - then I would be most suspicious for possible orthostatic hypotension.  In other words, your blood pressure may be low when you get up quickly and this causes temporarily decreased blood flow to the brain and its visual areas.  See an EyeMD ophthalmologist first then see your primary care physician for a workup of your problem.

Thanks,  this is very re-assuring,  GP seems to think it is night blindness and has advised taking vitamin A
