side effects after Yag laser posterior capsulotomy

I had a Yag laser posterior capsulotomy this past Tuesday.  I see tremendous glare, with starbursts, when looking at incandescent, halogen, LED and Mercury vapor lighting. With fluorescent lighting it is more of a blurred halo and the light seems brighter and almost painful to look at . I am taking Ilevro and Durozol drops.  A previous posting noted that glare can be caused my the opening produced by the Yag being too small, so that I am "catching" the edge.
Is the glare a normal side effect?  Will it subside quickly? How soon should it subside?
What is causing it?

In my case there was a small amount of debris from the cataract I had had removed many years before.

As far as I know, the vitreous doesn't replace itself. In my case they removed the vitreous with the inflammation cells and replaced it with saline.

I thought they did the vitrectomy and then your eye naturally replaces the vitreous. was the debris from your posterior capsule or was it from your natural llens?

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you need to seek a second opinion if possible.

If I understand you correctly, you are seeing a sort of haze in your vision.  I had that about 2 weeks after the YAG.  It looked like a thin mist, and occasionally a sort of thicker fog would sweep across my vision.  It turned out to be some serious inflammation caused by some old cataract debris entering the vitreous during the procedure.  In the end I was referred to a retinal specialist, who performed a vitrectomy to replace the affected vitreous. All is fine now.

Not sure if you underwent any other eye surgery prior to the YAG, but I was also told that this inflammation can also be caused by a low-level infection in the eye, and they can either inject an antibiotic into the back of the eye or do a vitrectomy.

I'm not a specialist, so make an appointment and see a specialist and have them take a look.

symptoms have not subsided a bit. In addition  to the glare, I have decreased contrast sensitivity and a general haziness in my eye. This haziness is a constant but occasionally a faint white curtain flashes over the visual field.
My visual acuity is much worse after the YAG.  I told the Dr. I believed the problem with intermediate vision in (my left eye only) using my progressive spectacles had to do with my glasses or prescription.  I was NOT having any of the typical symptoms of PCO.  The Dr. examined me and found my posterior capsule had wrinkled up, to it needed to be removed and was the cause of my vision problem.  I trusted him and now have impaired vision in my left eye.  The Dr. is old and run by his technicians, who are poorly trained and have no compassion or communication skills.  I received to education from anyone the day of my YAG.

I had YAG done a few months ago. For the first 3 or 4 days I saw halos around any lights. They looked blue with a sort of rainbow in them. It was particularly noticeable with points of light. This went away over the next couple of days, and had vanished after a week.

Hang in there a few more days, make sure you do your drops, and it should look much, much better.
