son's eye care

My son is 11 and has been wearing glasses since age 3.  He has had surgery for myopia and it was successful.  However, with each visit to the opthamolgist his glasses keep getting a stronger and stronger perscription.  We live in a small city and there is only one pediatric opthamoligist here.  How can I find out about qualified doctors in bigger cities?

I don't follow your question. What kind of surgery was done for myopia at age 3?

It is far more likely that your son was farsighted and had surgery for crossing of the eyes. Wearing glasses to correct farsightedness is very common after strabismus surgery.

Both farsightedness and nearsightedness often increase as the child gets older.

You can go to www.aao.org and use the Find An Eye MD to locate a pediatric ophthalmologist in a near-by city if you wish a second opinion.
