spots in vision

If you have spots on the retina are you able to see them? or are you only able to see them in vitreous (floaters). I have one 1 black spot and couple transparent spots in both eye. I know my opthamologist told me I have vitreous syneresis.
I wanted to know what I'm seeing is from the vitreous and wanted to know if you see stuff if you a spot on the retina.

Most spots on the retina are not visible but there are many exceptions such as macular degeneration or retinal vein occlusion.
