spots in vison

I see small black spots that seem to float around.
What could this be?

If these small black spots are new and are associated with any of the following:
flashing lights when your eyes are closed, a curtain in your peripheral vision, a suddent increase in the number of floaters that you see, I would immediately get checked by an eyeMD as it may indicate a serious eye condition.  You can locate one online [if you do not have one] at www.aao.org, find an eye MD.

my mother is seeing a spot with strings or a nerve with a knot, it moves when she moves her eye and darts across vision. She can also be seen with her eyes closed. this appeared suddenly will it leave just the same? What can this be?
