squint problem

Hi,

One of my friend in india is suffering from squint (left eye) with blurred vision (not by birth). Already his squint eye was operated twice and now doctor is saying its of no use to operate again in the same eye as it was done twice and it might damage if its operated again. His suggestion is to operate the other eye (right) which is already having good sight so that they can adjust the squint problem. From your experience do you think is it a good idea to operate the eye which is in good condition in order to avoid the squint?? Is it possible to bring the international patient to USA for surgery and whats the procedure for it? Please consider my question and guide me with this issue.

Note:They say its impossible to bring good vision to the squint eye.

It is possible to try and straighten the squint (strabismus) eye by doing surgery on the "good" eye however there is a small risk to the good eye of loss of vision and if two operations have not made eye straight there is significant risk that they eye will still not be perfectly straight.

Get an independent opinion from another squint Eye MD specialist. India has excellent ophthalmologists and I see no reason to come to the USA.
