standard eye tests

  Hello,
Recently I've been suffering major vision problems associated with some sort of Gastrointestinal order (which as yet has still been unidentified).
I have had two eye tests both of which said my vision is great. What I am wondering is, do standard eye tests you have at the local optometrist check the full health of the eye, or should I investigate seeing a specialist in the area, for full testing of the health of the eyes.
My vision problems include very high sensitivity to light, pressure around the eyes, inability to stare/focus at any particular object at any distance without feeling nauseaus.
  Hope you can help.
  Thanks
  -Adam

Adam,
The eye is one organ of the body, and many diseases which affect some other body system can also affect the eye.  The only way this can be evaluated is by having a complete eye examination.  Optometrists generally perform very good screening examinations.  However, if you still are having problems, it would be reasonable to have a complete eye examination done by an ophthalmologist, especially if your eye problem may be a part of a generalized problem.
Unfortunately, without examining you, I cannot provide any more specific information.
